Out on the Town - April 13, 2008
1 When last we saw Daniel Hugh Kelly's creepy Colonel Mayer on AS THE WORLD TURNS, he was about to hauled off to prison for murdering Cheri Love. Before he left, Luke managed to scream out "I love your son!" in a heated exchange as Noah looked on. Nearly seven months later, the Colonel will be back. Kelly returns to Oakdale as Noah's father beginning on Tuesday, May 6. No word yet on what the story might be. Kelly is best known to soap fans for his three year run on RYAN'S HOPE as Frank Ryan. He also played McCormick on HARDCASTLE AND MCCORMICK in the mid-80s.

SAG Asks AFTRA to Return To Phase One Screen Actors Guild National Board of Directors today adopted the following resolution: “...that AFTRA be given the opportunity to join Screen Actors Guild in Phase I joint negotiations, provided that notice of acceptance is received within 72 hours.” Approved: 81.37% - 18.63%. This action has been communicated to AFTRA. Will the ATWT reality web series out-gay the actual show? Brian Juergens blogs: "Not like that's really too hard, these days. But fans of Luke and Noah (and their real-life counterparts, Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann) and the mechanisms of daytime television might want to keep an eye on the web show INTURN, :which awards one lucky aspiring soap star with a 13-week contract on AS THE WORLD TURNS. (Get it? In Turn?) While it doesn't look like any of the four male contestants is openly gay (three of the guys mention girfriends or wives in their bios), the preview video suggests that they'll be asked to do a guy/guy love scene in one of the challenges." Y&R's Esther finally gets some recognition Sometimes to get big, you have to start small. Kate Linder is a perfect example of that. After joining the cast of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS 25 years ago, Linder is finally getting her due. Last week she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Years ago after going for a casting call, Linder got her call back and the rest is history, hired as Esther Valentine, Katherine's long-suffering housekeeper and nemesis of Jill. Her stars joins two soap opera legends…Eric Braeden (Y&R) and Susan Lucci (ALL MY CHILDREN). Mad May returns to EASTENDERS EASTENDERS actress Amanda Drew is to reprise her controversial Walford role as warped Dr 'Mad' May Wright. The 38-year-old actress will resurrect her sinister screen counterpart after almost a year's break. Viewers last saw May tangled in the midst of Albert Square's baby abduction storyline which led to her character's exit from the soap. Last year, BBC bosses made the decision to substantially re-write and re-film the ending to the storyline due to events surrounding Madeleine McCann in Portugal. The climax episode still attracted almost 200 complaints.
