Rauch In At Y&R

1 Michael Logan is reporting in the new TV Guide (Sept. 15-21) that Paul Rauch has officially replaced Josh Griffith as the Executive Producer of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Rauch has previous served as Executive Producer at ANOTHER WORLD, GUIDING LIGHT, SANTA BARBARA and ONE LIFE TO LIVE, and was the Co-Creator of TEXAS, LOVERS AND FRIENDS and FOR RICHER/FOR POORER. He has been credited as a consultant for the improved Y&R this year. Rauch has had some amazing successes in daytime (his early years on AW were some of the best in soap history) and some huge flops (who can forget the sad last year of SANTA BARBARA and the final shot of Rauch stomping out his cigarette to end the show). He has also had some highly visible conflict with top actors over the years like Virginia Dwyer, George Reinholt, and Jacqueline Courtney on ANOTHER WORLD, which lead to them all being fired. Y&R's previous executive producer Josh Griffith has been in the new a lot lately, reported as fired, then as still working, then as soon-to-be-fired. Looks like he's finally out the door. Rauch brings decades of soap experience to the table and we can hope fans see the best of Rauch and not the worst. Once again the backstage drama on daytime soaps (and let's not forget the press) is just as interesting as the happenings on the shows themselves.

Anna Holbrook Joins the S&S Cast

1 Anna Holbrook, who won a Daytime Emmy Award in 1996 as Outstanding Supporting Actress will be joining the cast of SCRIPTS & SCRUPLES in the role of Maggie Zegas, Sam's mother, and the wife of Alan (played by Kale Browne). This will be an ANOTHER WORLD reunion for Holbrook and Browne who played Sharlene and Michael, respectively, on the former NBC soap. Sharlene was John's true love, but did have a fling with his brother, Michael. To catch up on what Anna has been up to in recent years (in addition to her run on ONE LIFE TO LIVE in the summer of 2007), I recommend reading this wonderful article from the March 2008 issue of New Canaan - Darien Magazine.
