"She was known for playing connivers, but always with soul. She never created a cartoon villain." In some ways, McKinsey recalled the screen divas Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, Logan said. Like them, "Beverlee always played a real woman, a great dame, a strong and vulnerable type." "Beverly played Alex as a regal, self-assured woman who dominated people with her power," said actor Rick Hearst, who played Alex's nephew, Alan-Michael. He is now a regular on GENERAL HOSPITAL. As an actress, McKinsey was "a professional who always knew her lines," said Scott McKinsey, who was a director on GUIDING LIGHT for six years and worked with his mother. "You could count on her, like clockwork." McCartney describes the CD as a 'departure' from his previous sound. Of course, this is none the more evident on his first single, "Leavin'," which boasts a hip-hop beat from producer "Tricky" Stewart, who also worked on the aforementioned Carey’s single "Touch My Body" as well as a slew of other jams including the infectious Rihanna track "Umbrella." DVD Review: Stafford's Like Mother, Like Daughter In Like Mother, Like Daughter, Y&R's Michelle Stafford plays Dawna, a successful businesswoman, with Dani Kind as her college- going daughter, Emily. But this suspense thriller is done in by a fragile script and self-indulgent direction. Leading daytime soaps back to the future Lynn Liccardo's blogs: "I don't know why 1981 proved to be such a pivotal year for television. But the premiere of HILL STREET BLUES in January 1981 and the wedding of Luke and Laura on GENERAL HOSPITAL that November marked the beginning of a profound shift for television programming, day and night. For primetime, the trajectory was up; In Glued to the Set, Steven Stark describes Hill Street as 'pav(ing) the way for TV's second golden age,' due largely to its use of the serial narrative. As for daytime, well, it's been a long, slow downward slide; their future, a question mark. And that slide began with how other daytime soaps operas responded to the juggernaut that was Luke and Laura."
