Beverlee McKinsey: Singularly Magnificent Marlena De Lacroix pays tribute to the late soap legend: "I feel sorry for younger soap fans who never got to see Beverlee McKinsey on soaps prior to her retirement from major roles in daytime in 1992. McKinsey, who died last week in California at 72 of complications from a kidney transplant, was singularly magnificent!" Long Live the Queen - Beverlee McKinsey Tom Casiello blogs: "I woke up this morning all ready to blog about the travesty of Joe Mascolo's firing, or possibly take a step back from my soapbox and talk about how excited I am for the My Chemical Romance concert I'm going to at MSG on Friday (you may mock me - we all have our guilty pleasures - I'm not ashamed. :-))... but then I learned about the passing of Beverlee McKinsey, and all of that was immediately thrown out the window. Beverlee was a powerful symbol of a daytime that no longer exists. A daytime that stood tall, its head held high in quiet dignity, its stare intense and powerful - you didn't mess with *that* daytime world. Beverlee didn't star in "soap operas" - she starred in daytime dramas. You'd hang on every articulated syllable that came out of her mouth - analyze every inflection in her voice, to the point where you truly believed you were inside the head of her character. She could destroy a marriage with a single word, and not only would you sympathize with her, you would grant her complete absolution." Former soap actresses to star in Sybil Sybil, a new television movie starring Academy Award winner Jessica Lange (Tootsie), Emmy Award nominee Tammy Blanchard (GUIDING LIGHT) and Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominee JoBeth Williams (SOMERSET, GUIDING LIGHT) to be broadcast Saturday, June 7 (8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Sybil is based on the best-selling book of the same name by Flora Rheta Schreiber. It is the true story of a young woman who suffers from dissociative identity disorder (formerly known as multiple personality disorder), a psychological condition where two or more distinct personalities exist within the same person as the result of severe trauma and abuse inflicted during childhood. Former GL star Bundy to offer workshop Tony nominee and former GUIDING LIGHT star Laura Bell Bundy and fellow "Legally Blonde" cast member Paul Canaan will lead a new musical theatre workshop entitled "Take It From the Top." Bundy – who frequently lends her time to various theatre seminars and intensives aimed at young performers – was inspired to create her own program with Canaan that will offer classes in New York, Bundy's hometown of Lexington, KY, as well as in Nashville, St. Louis, Southern California and at Michigan State University. Lindsay Lohan begins filming 6-episode UGLY BETTY stint Starting with the season finale, former ANOTHER WORLD child actress Lohan will play Betty Suarez's former schoolmate who was the "Queen Bee." She'll appear in five episodes next season. Heche's MEN IN TREES canceled ABC has gone and canceled one of TV's most consistently heartwarming hours, MEN IN TREES.
